Danny Masterson’s Wife, Bijou Phillips, Is Done After He Was Sentenced to 30 Years in Prison

Just days after sources claimed Bijou Phillips had no plans of divorcing Danny Masterson, that has all changed.

According to multiple news outlets, Bijou has officially filed for divorce. As Mamas Uncut previously reported, Bijou Phillips and Danny Masterson got married in 2011. Originally a source for People claimed that Bijou had no plans to break her vow to Danny, but that story has since changed.

Bijou allegedly filed to end her marriage on September 18. Phillips is ‘distraught’ over the sentencing.

“She has had a very difficult time since the conviction," the People source alleged at the time. She loves Danny and has no plans to file for divorce. She will be by his side for it all." Bijou has reportedly been ‘surrounded by family and friends’ and is trying to stay hopeful as they start planning appeals with her husband’s legal team.

Bijou Phillips was in the courtroom when Danny Masterson was read his sentence – which was revealed by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Charlaine F. Olmedo on September 7. He was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison – the maximum allowed sentence – with the possibility of parole after 25½ years.

"Mr. Masterson, I know that you’re sitting here steadfast in your claims of innocence and thus no doubt feeling victimized by a justice system that has failed you. But Mr. Masterson, you are not the victim here,” Judge Charlaine Olmedo said. “Your actions 20 years ago took away another person’s voice and choice.”

Phillips allegedly wore a pair of sunglasses while her husband’s sentence was announced – she, along with several other family members, was heartbroken over the sentence. As for Masterson, he appeared to show minimal emotion during the process and blew his wife a kiss before being sent away to prison.

Masterson was arrested in 2020 after three women accused him of forcible rape at his home between 2001 and 2003. His first trial ended in a mistrial after the jury was deadlocked for weeks. A second trial found him guilty of raping the two women in 2003, but the jury remained deadlocked on the third count.

Bijou Phillips and Danny Masterson Got Married in 2011

Bijou Phillips and Danny Masterson met in 2004 at a celebrity poker tournament in Las Vegas. She was intrigued by Masterson, who she says was the only one at the poker table who wasn’t flirting with her or laughing at her jokes. They started dating shortly after and have stuck by each other’s side ever since.

After five years of dating, Masterson and Phillips announced their engagement in March 2009 and tied the knot in a private castle in Ireland in October 2011. Three years later, the couple welcomed their first child together – a daughter named Fianna Francis Masterson – on February 14, 2014. She’s now 9 years old.

In 2017, Masterson stuck by his wife’s side as she underwent a kidney transplant for a disease she had been battling for years – since she was a child. “Our daughter will have a mother. We do not take lightly how incredibly fortunate we are. 100% successful transplant,” he wrote in an Instagram post at the time.
