Gisele Bundchen Admits Divorce From Tom Brady Has Resulted in ‘Pushback’ From Her Kids

Gisele Bündchen admits parenting alongside her ex-husband Tom Brady hasn’t been a walk in the park.

While talking with Harper’s Bazaar, Gisele opened up about co-parenting with Brady and the advice she tries to bestow on her children.

As Gisele explained to Harper's Bazaar, one lesson she instilled in her children early on is “the way you make your room, the way you organize and make your bed is the way you're going to do your life. If you're not learning here and now, then when and with who?"

However, as with many children who live in two homes with two different sets of rules, Gisele admits it’s hard to get some lessons to stick. “Sometimes, I get pushback, especially because now they're in two different homes and there are two different ways. But I feel like I owe it to my kids, because of what my mom taught me,” she told Harper’s Bazaar.

As Gisele continued, she admits it’s important to teach your children and instill these values in them young because “you are where you come from," she added.

"All those things that I learned as a kid are things that are in me. It doesn't change. In many ways, it's also what kept me safe, because my value system was so strong."

While talking with Vanity Fair, Gisele Bundchen opened up in a big way regarding her divorce from now-retired football star Tom Brady.

As Bundchen made very clear in her interview as Vanity Fair’s cover model, she’s not happy with all the rumors surrounding the reason why she and Brady ended their nearly 14-year marriage. As many reports alleged over the last several months, the rumor was that Bundchen ended her marriage to Brady when he refused to retire from football.

"Listen, I have always cheered for him, and I would continue forever,” Bundchen admitted to Vanity Fair. "If there's one person I want to be the happiest in the world, it's him, believe me. I want him to achieve and to conquer. I want all his dreams to come true. That's what I want, really, from the bottom of my heart."

But while addressing the claims that she left him because of his decisions when it came to retirement from the NFL, Gisele admitted, “What's been said is one piece of a much bigger puzzle. It's not so black and white,” before adding that she would never give up her dream because of one more season in the NFL.

Bundchen described her divorce from Brady as the “death of my dream,” she told Vanity Fair, who described her as choking up at that moment. “It’s tough because you imagine your life was going to be a certain way, and you did everything you could, you know?”

“You give everything you got to achieve your dream. You give a hundred percent of yourself, and it’s heartbreaking when it doesn’t end up the way you hoped for, and worked for, but you can only do your part.”

Gisele then briefly elaborated on the reason for their divorce, adding that she and Tom had begun to want different things from when they met in their 20s. "Sometimes you grow together; sometimes you grow apart," she admitted. "When I was 26 years old, and he was 29 years old, we met, we wanted a family, we wanted things together. As time goes by, we realize that we just wanted different things, and now we have a choice to make.”

Bundchen continued by saying that their divorce absolutely doesn’t mean that they no longer have a love for each other. “That doesn’t mean you don’t love the person. It just means that in order for you to be authentic and truly live the life that you want to live, you have to have somebody who can meet you in the middle, right? It's a dance. It's a balance."

"When you love someone, you don't put them in a jail and say, 'You have to live this life.’ You set them free to be who they are, and if you want to fly the same direction, then that's amazing." And despite no longer being married, Gisele says she and Tom will always be a “team.”

“That's beautiful,” Gisele continued. “I look back, and I have no regrets. I loved every bit of it.”
