Jason Kelce Makes Heartbreaking Announcement Following the Eagles Last Game of the Season

Just a month after addressing whether or not he plans to retire from the NFL, Jason Kelce is talking more about his impending decision.

“It is exciting to think about possibilities — it is exciting to be able to lose weight, feel good, and not physically fight for my life every day,” Jason said while a guest on retired NFL star Chris Long’s podcast. “I think it is also daunting. It is anxiety and at the end of the day, it is the unknown.”

As Kelce continued, despite knowing and believing the Eagles will also be one of the better teams next, the father of three admitted he's trying not to let that factor into his decision. He admitted that he wants to be selfish in his decision, making it only about what he wants.

“No matter who you are or how well-prepared you are to enter the next stage, everybody goes through a level of depression. The end of one of the things you love most in your life is there, and you have to come to grips with that.”

Back in January, Jason Kelce addressed the leaked reports announcing his retirement from the league.

During the newest episode of his podcast, New Heights, Kelce didn't deny his intentions of retiring but didn't confirm them either. As the father of three revealed, although reports of his retirement were leaked to the press and he did address his team in the locker room following the hard loss against the Bucs, Kelce said he would never make a retirement announcement following such an emotional loss.

At the end of the clip, both Jason and Travis got emotional. "Hell yeah, brother," Travis said into the mic. "Hell yeah."

We continue to pray for Jason during this difficult time.

Update: Just days after fans speculated Travis Kelce may be finished with football after this year, his older brother Jason Kelce, one of the best centers in the league made a heartbreaking announcement.

Just hours after the Philidelphia Eagles season came to an end following a loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, ESPN analyst Adam Schefter reported that Jason Kelce told his teammates in the locker room that he is, in fact, retiring.

"Breaking: Six-time All-Pro and future Hall-of-Fame center Jason Kelce told his Eagles teammates in Monday night’s postgame locker room that he is retiring," ESPN wrote on Instagram.

Following the Monday night game, Jason was captured with tears in his eyes before he walked off the field. His wife, Kylie, also looked emotional while sitting in the stands watching him play for what is being reported as his final time.

Despite being 33 and playing one of the toughest positions in football, Travis Kelce is still playing at a high level.

But because of his age and the injuries he has sustained over the years in football, many are wondering if Kelce is approaching the end of his career. Not to mention, despite still being one of the best in the league, Kelce, statistically, had one of his worst seasons.

And now that he’s dating Taylor Swift, from the outside looking in, things seem rather serious between the two of them. Would it be such a bad thing for Kelce to throw in the towel and retire?

Well, a reporter asked him that very question, and here’s what he had to say.

It’s no secret that his older brother, Jason, who is 35, has been considering retirement for the last couple of years and many have speculated that this year will be Jason’s last. But will it also be Travis’s last?

Unsurprisingly, Travis told reporters, “I have no reason to stop playing football. Man, I love it. I just love the challenge [football] gives me every single day to try to be at my best."
