John Stamos Takes Hot Ones Challenge…Then Makes a Joke About His Late Friend Bob Saget That Will Leave Your Jaw on the Ground

On July 20, John Stamos became the latest celebrity to take on the Hot Ones challenge on Sean Evans’ YouTube talk show – also known as ‘the show with hot questions, and even hotter wings.’ As we’ve come to expect, the episode was filled with meme-able moments and laughter from both sides of the table. 

After eating the eighth wing, Stamos cracked a dark joke about his late friend Bob Saget – who passed away on January 9, 2022. “This is what killed Saget,” he said, acknowledging how hot the wings were getting. It took the audience a second to process it, but Stamos followed up with the perfect response.

“He would do that joke if he was alive to me. He wouldn’t have waited a year and a half either. He would say the worst things,” Stamos explained. Any fan of Bob Saget would 100% agree with that sentiment – after all, it was no secret that Saget had one of the darkest senses of humor in the entertainment industry.

That joke might seem a little out-of-pocket to those unaware of the close bond John Stamos shared with Bob Saget, but it’s a joke he would approve of and be proud of – let’s be honest, it’s right up his alley. If anything, it’s a reminder of how funny he was and how much we wish he was still here to make us laugh.

John Stamos and Bob Saget saw their two careers intertwine in the late-1980s and early-1990s when they were cast as Uncle Jessie and Danny Tanner, respectively, in the hit sitcom Full House. The show ran for nearly 10 years from 1987 to 1995, becoming one of the most popular shows in the country. 

Stamos maintained a close relationship with his cast mates over the past few decades – including his best friend, Bob Saget. In fact, Stamos was chosen to be the ‘roastmaster’ during the Comedy Central Roast of Bob Saget – which aired in 2008 and showed just how dark of a sense of humor he has.

Bob Saget might not be here (physically), but Sean Evans had the opportunity to invite him onto his show nearly six years ago. He was the featured guest for Episode 18 of Season 4, which was released on November 16, 2017, and he made everyone laugh (as usual) with his sudden and uncontrollable hiccups. 

John Stamos Almost Quit ‘Full House,’ But Ended Up Staying

During his recent appearance on Hot Ones, John Stamos talked about his time on Full House and what it meant to him. While it turned out to be one of the best decisions of his life, he admitted to almost quitting the show early on and the reason is hilarious – he was jealous of how popular the kids were getting!

In fact, he admitted to hating the show at one point. When he first joined, he had a bit of a ‘big shot’ attitude and felt like he would be the star of the show. He was quickly humbled when Jodie Sweetin – who played Stephanie Tanner – stole the show and became a quick favorite among fans and producers. 

“Jodie Sweetin, who plays Stephanie (Tanner), reads her lines and people are dying laughing – I mean, screaming. I couldn’t even hear my lines, they were laughing so hard at her, and I’m like slinking down in my seat,” Stamos said – adding that he called his agent and told him to get him off the show ASAP.

John Stamos eventually came to his senses – something he credits Bob Saget for – and stayed the full eight years. He reprised his role as Uncle Jessie in Fuller House, which ran from 2016 to 2020.
