On Sunday (July 23) night, singer-songwriter Tori Kelly was eating dinner with her friends in Downtown Los Angeles when she suddenly passed out and was unconscious ‘for a while,’ according to TMZ. Sources are describing the recent health scare as ‘really serious’ as she continues to receive treatment.
After she passed out, Tori’s friends carried her to their vehicle and drove her to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center – they didn’t call an ambulance because they didn’t want her to be transported to a hospital in the Downtown area. Instead, they chose Cedars-Sinai – one of the highest-ranked hospitals in the US.
Over the past few days, Tori has been receiving treatment in Cedar-Sinai’s intensive care unit (ICU) after being diagnosed with blood clots in her legs and lungs – which was the cause of her rapid heart rate that led to her passing out on Sunday. Doctors are still trying to determine if she has blood clots in her heart.

Doctors are using her recent health scare as an example for young people who think they’re immune to blood clots. While they are more common in the senior population, blood clots can happen to anyone at any age – especially those who have cancer, are pregnant, take birth control, or had surgery recently.
"In terms of the signs and symptoms, if you are talking about the leg, it's usually some focal tenderness or redness or swelling in the back of the leg, the calf," Dr. Jennifer Ashton said to ABC News. "If you're talking about a clot in the lung, it's shortness of breath, cough, chest pain that's worse [with] breathing."
On Monday (July 24), Tori’s husband – André Murillo – shared a touching message for his wife on his Instagram Story. He shared lyrics to one of his wife’s songs with Justin Bieber – ‘Where Do I Fit In’ – and had the song playing in the background. The lyrics appear to described Murillo’s emotions at this time.
The song goes a little something like this: "While you sleep, I watch over you, it'll be alright / I'll take care of your loved ones, it'll be alright / Your future's in my hands, it'll be alright / Your past is forgiven, it'll be alright /Your future is secure, it'll be alright.” You can start to see why Murillo chose those specific lyrics.
